Commitment vs. convenience
I have an E-book called The Principles of Change: How Achievers Think and Act Differently then Strugglers. If you are interested in the book you can send me an email at beckygillaspy@verizon.net.
In the book, I identify why some people seem to control their weight easily and effortlessly, while others seem doomed to suffer with this problem for the rest of their lives. The difference is not a matter of education, intelligence, skill, or just plain luck; the difference is their mindset.
One difference I have identified is that Achievers commit to losing weight while Strugglers want to lose weight.
When we are fully committed to change we do whatever it takes to reach our goal. When we simply want something to change we do whatever is convenient. When we simply want to lose weight we quit as soon as things get tough or inconvenient. For instance, it can be inconvenient to plan ahead and pack a healthy lunch or snack; it can be tough to say, "No, thank you" when offered a piece of birthday cake.
Commitment is a mindset, in it’s simplest form it means you want the results more than you want the instant gratification. Decide if your goal is worth committing to and then do whatever it takes to get it done.
