The 7 Most Effective Exercises

Web MD has an interesting article called 7 Most Effective Exercises.  I first noticed it on FitSugar.com. and I thought it was worthy of sharing with you.

According to their experts if you want to get the most out of your workouts you may want to consider incorporating these 7 exercises.

1.  Walking.  A brisk walk can burn up to 500 calories and bring you great cardiovascular benefits.

2.  Intensity Training.  Vary your pace or intensity during your workout.  For instance if you are walking on the treadmill at a 3.5 level for 5 minutes boost your intensity to 4 or more for a couple minutes then go back down.  This type of variation increases your fitness level as well as your fat loss.

3.  Squats.  This exercise works all the big muscles of the leg and butt and you benefit from the added strength and muscle.  Watch your form on these, pretend you are sitting in a chair and just before you touch rise back up.

4.  Lunges.  A bit more advanced than squats, lunges are another great way to work the large muscles of the lower body.

5.  Push-ups.  A good push-up will work the chest, shoulders, triceps and even give you some core work.  The benefit comes from good form not how many you can do.

6.  Abdominal Crunches.  If done properly they are a great way to strengthen you abs.  Try using an exercise ball.

7.  Bent-over Rows.  This is a back exercise that you can do sitting on the edge of a chair.  By placing the weights on the floor and pulling both hands up so they are beside your body you will work all the major muscles of your upper back.
