The Many Names for Sugar

     Do food companies do this on purpose?  I have found a list of alternate names for sugar over at FitSugar.com that is roughly a mile long.  Part of the list appears below, those ending in -itol are usually classified as sugar alcohol, they are often found in sugar-free candies and other products and are hard for the body to digest, in fact too many of them have a laxative effect.  The rest of the list is hidden in our everyday foods so read your labels carefully if you are reducing or eliminating sugar from your diet.
