Are You a Good Pilot?

Would you want a pilot with a deep Desire to get you safely to your destination? Would you like him or her to strongly Believe in his/her ability to take off and land the plane with skill? Would it be important to you that he was Committed to being the best pilot he could be? Would you feel more comfortable if your pilot had a high sense of Self-Worth? And what about a Flexible pilot, one who was able to steer you around an unexpected storm so your flight was less bumpy. Would you like this to be your pilot?
Now let me ask you…who is the pilot of your life and more specifically who is in the cockpit steering you toward your weight loss goal? Does that pilot have a deep Desire to get you to your destination? Does he or she Believe it is possible, feel Committed to making it happen and have a high sense of Self-Worth with a good mix of Flexibility?
Desire, Belief, Commitment, Self-Worth and Flexibility these are the 5 steps to creating a new and beneficial Weight Mindset. You must have these ingredients working for you if you expect to lose weight and keep it off.
If you need to improve your piloting skills then start with Desire. Ask yourself why you want to lose weight, write it down and don’t stop writing until you have found the true heart-felt reason that explains why losing weight is so important to you. This is your first step.

You are so right about being flexible. I read on blogs about people who are upset because there is a food thing at work or with family that will ruin their weight loss efforts–and I’ve done the same, until I took a different approach.
I want to tell them—it’s one meal—or it’s a weekend—how can it sabotage your weight loss? It may make getting to your goal take a day, or 2 days, or a week… or even a month longer, over the course of the year. But, so what?! Life happens, and if we want to be successful for the long term, we have to figure out how to work these situations into our plan—how to be flexible.
People think “I can’t eat pizza” until I’m off my diet…baloney I say. You can figure out how to have pizza in your life and still lose or maintain your weight. It is doable.
Being rigid and eliminating food groups, etc. will only end up foiling your efforts in the long run. Flexibility is key to succeeding.
