ENDING HOPE DIETING
From your feedback last week I got a strong sense of what your needs are for the coming year and how to make 2010 the year you give up “Hope Dieting”.
Hope Dieting doesn’t work because it leaves out all the key components of change:
- The eating and exercise plan is not planned out
- There is little emphasis put on creating a realistic goal
- There is no long-term strategy
- There is no support system to deal with challenges
Here is what you need in place to turn Hope Dieting into Weight Loss Success. I call them the 5 F’s:
- Food – Create a dieting strategy that is simple to follow so it works in any situation.
- Fitness – Have an exercise strategy that does not require a lot of time yet maximizes your fat loss.
- Fast – Make big enough changes in your diet and exercise to see the weight loss so your momentum and motivation grow.
- Focus – Create a mindset and attitude that locks your attention on the positive outcome you are headed toward.
- Family – Become part of a supportive community made up of individuals all working toward a similar goal with a mentor to guide you and make sure you are making the right decisions.
With these 5 things in place your potential for success explodes and those stubborn pounds melt off in a way you would have never thought possible before.
How do you get these 5 F’s working in your life? I will give them to you!
After Christmas I am going to send you some content (not just tips) that will be what you need to end Hope Dieting for good. This is the research-based content that will show you how to get faster weight loss, keep your motivation high and how to easily get a supportive community built up around you.
Have a happy holiday and I will be back with this content right after Christmas Day.
My Best,
Dr. Becky

Hi Dr Becky! I am looking forward to learning how to overcome my eating disorder (binge eating and compulsive eating). I had never thought of ‘hope dieting’ as a phrase, but I can see how true it is - and also that it doesn’t work and hasn’t work for me! I am also keen to have a support group/person to talk (email) to. The eating disorder is hidden from everyone in my life as the only messages I get are “not okay” ones from people who see I am having trouble, especially with my weight! I have a passion, as I learn about it, to help others (and myself!).
Thank you so much for your help.
Kind regards,
Ruth Farrell

Hello Becky,
I am happy to hear from you, I have been looking forward to your reply since your questions!I started to read the book you recommended last year”Mindless Eating” and find it very interesting. I thought this was a good stepping stone.
This year has been tough and I decided 2 weeks ago that I really need to “get over it” and move on; so Jan. 1st is my deadline! As sad as some of the situations are I cannot control them or the people involved, I really need to dive into a happier, motivated atmosphere about ME!
With the help of you and my very supportive husband I hope to focus on getting fit and healthy as Mike and I get prepared for the next phase of our life! I truly feel out of control right now and it sometimes feels like I am watching a bad movie with no way to turn it off.
Thanks so much for not giving up on me and those like me! I look forward to hearing from you after the holidays.
Merry Christmas!
